Packer article by Darden’s Pat Hynes is must read

Finding Produce’s Sweet Spot on Kids’ Menus

Pat Hynes, senior director of purchasing for Darden Restaurants (and PMA board of directors member), recently published an article in The Packer that as a Produce Expo exhibitor you’ll certainly want to read.

Pat discusses Darden’s priority on creating healthy kids’ menu items with fruits and vegetables. He mentions it’s an emphasis shared throughout the foodservice industry as evidenced by National Restaurant Association’s 2012 Restaurant Industry Forecast, which finds healthful kids’ meals and fruit and vegetable sides in kids’ meals top among menu trends.

The article offers detail not only about Darden’s approach to this consumer demand, but also about what Pat’s expecting to hear on the topic from exhibitors at the Produce Expo. In case you missed it, you’ll have to read Pat’s article in The Packer to see for yourself how the story ends. Then gauge whether you’re ready to talk top trends with foodservice operators in Monterey!

PS: Pat wrote a guest post for Exhibitor Central last year that still serves as an excellent primer to get your team ready for the world-class operators you’ll meet at this year’s Produce Expo.
