Beware of Housing Scams!

Exhibitor and attendee housing for Foodservice Conference will open on Thursday, March 9, 2017. Hotel reservations will once again be managed by Expovision, our OFFICIAL housing vendor.  If you book your hotel rooms through any other source, PMA cannot guarantee the legitimacy of their claims.

How do housing scams work?

Room poachers research online event lists, typically targeting exhibitors using deceptive tactics such as:

  • Claims to have hotel rooms available at a lower rate
  • Informing registrants that the hotel is “sold out” and to book immediately
  • Representing themselves as being affiliated wit
h the event, illegally using logos and proprietary materials
  • Distributing forms and offers that look official and legitimate, but they are not

Room poachers often don’t deliver on these promises to customers. When customers arrive, reservations are non-existent or the hotels are not conveniently located. Sometimes the rooms have been cancelled and hefty cancellation fees have been placed on the customer’s credit card.

DON’T BE MISLED! If you are contacted by anyone asking if you need a room for the conference, please get as much information as you can and pass it on to PMA’s Expo Team. Remember: Expovision is the only official housing vendor.
